First of four rankings leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft

The College Football Playoff picture is beginning to take shape, and the post-season awards finalists are being announced. It’s that time of the year. Everyone has an opinion and a preference when it comes to what teams should be in and which players should get an award, but those will sort themselves out, as they usually do.

The more polarizing dialogue is NFL Draft tiers. College quarterbacks are arguably having their most down year since 2021, but I would contend that’s directly linked to the effectiveness of the transfer portal and how spread the talent is on defenses. Conversely, the lack of continuity from newer players affects rhythm and timing.

While the quarterback class is contentious, the running back, linebacker, tight end, and defensive back class is not. The wide receiver and defensive line classes aren’t as great as they have been in recent memory, but there are still plenty of quality, ready-to-contribute talents. That is pretty much the theme for this entire class. There may be a lack of truly elite prospects, but what’s the next best thing? Immediate contributors. There’s a lot of those here.
