2025 NFL Draft Prospect: Billy Bowman Jr.

Billy Bowman Jr is a 5’10 195 safety from the University of Oklahoma. Going into his senior season at the helm in Norman, Bowman is expected to be one of the premier defensive backs in all of the country this year. Bowman saw the field early in his career as a Sooner starting in seven games and seeing action in eleven games as a true freshman. Improving on the early progress he saw as a freshman, Bowman made eleven appearances and nine starts as a sophomore and earned All-Big12 honorable mention honors. This past season, Bowman showed another level of ability and development. 

Starting all 13 games Bowman finished the season with 63 tackles, six interceptions, four pass breakups, three touchdowns, and three tackles for loss. Not only did these statistics earn All-Big 12 first team honors, Bowman was also named an All-American. His nine interceptions over the last two seasons are tied for the third most in all the college football. The three interception returns for touchdown lead the entire country. It’s safe to say Bowman is one of the most productive playmakers the game of collegiate football has today.

While Bowman received well-deserved NFL draft hype, he chose to return to Oklahoma for his senior season. At 5’10 195 pounds, Bowman doesn’t have the largest frame and some have considered that to be a reason he doesn’t have quite the elite draft stock his production would typically command, but with the examples of other players of similar stature being very successful in the NFL I’m not sure if that’s the case.
